VDS Server – Enterprise Cloud VDS Solutions
Most companies looking for a VDS server want the same things: CPU and memory that are not shared with other customers, a virtual server with administrator access, and a predictable monthly cost. MAV Cloud meets that need on its VMware-based Cloud Server platform rather than through a separate VDS product. What is searched for as a virtual dedicated server comes here with resource isolation, high availability and central storage; the packages and the quote process are the same as for our cloud servers.
This page explains what the cloud VDS approach means, which workloads it suits, the entry configuration and what drives the price.

What is a VDS server, and why does MAV Cloud deliver it as a cloud server?
A VDS (virtual dedicated server) is a virtual server whose CPU and memory are reserved for it and not shared with other customers. The term has no standard definition, and some providers use VDS and VPS interchangeably (see VDS in our glossary).
In the classic model, the virtual server runs on a single physical machine. Even with reserved resources, if that machine’s disk, power supply or motherboard fails, the virtual server stops too, and the data sits on that same machine’s disks.
At MAV Cloud, a VDS server request is built on the VMware-based Cloud Server platform. The vCPU and RAM allocated to the virtual server are isolated, and the disk lives on a central storage system rather than inside the physical host. Because the platform runs with high availability, if a physical host fails the virtual server can be restarted on another host in the cluster. There are not two products: the service searched for as VDS and our cloud server rental packages are the same thing.
Single-host VDS server vs cloud VDS
NIST’s definition of cloud computing is built on a shared pool of configurable resources that can be provisioned and released quickly (NIST SP 800-145). Cloud VDS combines that pooled approach with a reserved-resource model, which makes a practical difference for a business:
- Resilience to hardware failure: the virtual server is not tied to one physical machine; if a host fails, another host takes over.
- Central storage: data is kept on a shared storage system, not on local disks inside the server.
- Resource isolation: allocated vCPU and RAM are assigned so that load from other virtual servers on the platform does not affect them.
- Flexible growth: vCPU, RAM and disk can be re-planned as needs grow, without moving to a new server.
Which workloads suit a virtual dedicated server?
Cloud VDS is used for workloads that must run continuously and need administrator access. The most common scenarios are:
- ERP, accounting and RDS: ERP and accounting software used over Remote Desktop, plus a separate database server.
- Web applications: corporate websites, customer portals and API services.
- Databases: disk- and memory-heavy systems such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Test and development environments: separate servers for trying new releases without touching production.
Each workload has different resource needs. Splitting workloads across separate virtual servers, instead of stacking several roles on one, makes both performance and maintenance planning easier.
VDS hosting in Turkey: entry configuration and price
The entry configuration is 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 100 GB SSD. Depending on the customer and the services selected, its monthly price starts from approximately 60–100 USD. The final price is set in the quote.
| Item | Entry configuration |
|---|---|
| vCPU | 4 |
| RAM | 8 GB |
| Disk | 100 GB SSD |
| Monthly price | From approx. 60–100 USD |
These values are a starting point, not a fixed package list. Larger or differently balanced configurations are priced separately according to the workload.
What affects the price
The price of a cloud VDS is not a single package fee but the sum of the resources and services chosen. The main items considered in a quote are the number of vCPUs, the amount of RAM, disk capacity, monthly traffic and add-on services.
Add-ons include backup, managed services and security layers. The same 4 vCPU server carries a different monthly fee once backup and operating system management are added, and these items appear as separate lines in the quote.
How to size a VDS server
The most reliable sizing input is real usage data from the current server. CPU, memory and disk usage measured on busy days sets the starting size of the new cloud setup.
If ERP or accounting software will be used over Remote Desktop, the RDS server sizing calculator estimates the vCPU and RAM needed from concurrent users and workload type. For web application and database servers, the software vendor’s system requirements are reviewed alongside current usage.
Plan a Move from Your Current VDS or VPS
Share your current server’s configuration and usage data, and we will work out the cloud server equivalent, the migration timeline and the monthly cost together.
Add-ons: backup, management and security
The server itself is only one part of the infrastructure. High availability protects against hardware failure, but it does not bring back a deleted file or data encrypted by ransomware; that requires a separate backup. Regular backup of server data to a different environment is planned under our cloud backup service.
If there is no in-house team for operating system updates, monitoring, patching and security configuration, these can be handed over to the MAV Cloud team through managed services. Firewall rules and access policies are covered as part of the same scope.
Migrating from an existing VDS or VPS
A VDS or VPS at another provider, or a physical server on premises, is moved to a cloud server after its applications and data structure have been reviewed. Before the move, the target configuration is defined, a downtime window is planned and rollback steps are prepared.
Erler Otomotiv’s on-premises systems and Lets Club’s systems were each moved to the cloud over a weekend, so working days were not affected. The process is described on our cloud migration services page.
Infrastructure, SLA and certifications
MAV Cloud’s cloud servers run in the Equinix Istanbul data center on VMware infrastructure. Keeping data in Turkey is an important starting point for companies with data location questions under KVKK, Turkey’s personal data protection law.
MAV Cloud’s service level agreement sets a monthly 99.9% availability target for the cloud server service, with first-response targets of 15 minutes for critical, 1 hour for high, 4 hours for medium and 1 business day for low priority.
MAV Cloud is certified to ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27701, ISO 22301, ISO/IEC 20000 and ISO 9001. Information security, personal data management, business continuity and service management processes are audited against these standards.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between VDS, VPS and a cloud server?
VPS usually describes a virtual server with shared resources, and VDS one with reserved resources; a cloud server combines reserved resources with high availability and central storage. A detailed comparison is in our VDS vs VPS vs cloud server guide.
Are resources dedicated on a cloud VDS?
Yes. The vCPU and RAM set in the quote are allocated to the virtual server and isolated on the platform. Technical details of the resource allocation are shared in writing at the quote stage.
Where is the data center?
Cloud servers run in the Equinix Istanbul data center on VMware infrastructure. Data stays in Turkey.
Can the server be upgraded later?
vCPU, RAM and disk capacity can be re-planned as needs grow. The change is scheduled with the MAV Cloud team at a time that does not disrupt the workload, and the price is updated for the new configuration.
Is backup included in the price?
Backup is offered as an add-on and shown as a separate line in the quote. Retention period and backup frequency are set according to how critical the workload is.
Free Assessment of Your Current Servers
Share the software you use, the number of users and your current server details, and we will assess the cloud server equivalent and estimated cost free of charge.
If the configuration is not clear yet, the free assessment is a good place to start. If the vCPU, RAM and disk requirements are already known, the quote form is the fastest route.
